    Getting Plan 9

Today, I’m going to start setting up the first Plan 9 machine, to be known as alpha.shiftout.net.

I happen to have a University’s Internet connection at my disposal, so downloading the CD image was not a bother at all. You can find it here. When you download it, you will find it has been compressed into a bz2 archive.

Using a Debian Linux workstation, I simply unpacked the bz2 archive using Archive Manager and then burnt it to a CD-R using Brasero. Both of these are included in a “default” installation of Debian Linux.
